Sinopsis
BOS TAURUS is a visual and conceptual essay on the most popular and participative aspect of these festivities, written based on the contradictions created by humans in their relationship with useful animals. The work proposes a re-reading of the popular bullfighting subculture in the light of photography, history, economy, and the author’s experiences. Its purpose is not to create a polemic but to highlight the uniqueness and feasibility of these events at the most crucial moment in its history.
Autor: ZABALZA RAMOS, RAMÓN
Ramón Zabalza es licenciado en derecho (Madrid, 1960) y ha realizado estudios de economía y antropología en Madrid y París (1961-1970). Ha sido profesor auxiliar de antropología social y económica en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1968-1973) y se dedica a la fotografía desde 1973. Sus fotografías han sido expuestas en Madrid, Nueva York, Los Ángeles, París y Pekín y en muchas ciudades españolas. Su obra ha sido adquirida por el Hamburgischen Museum für Völkerkunde (Hamburgo, 1982), el Center for Creative Photography (Tucson, 1988), la Colección Cualladó (Madrid, 1989), el Centro Portugués de Fotografía (Oporto, 1999) y por la Comunidad de Madrid (2000). Es autor de "Imágenes gitanas" (1995), libro con el que obtuvo el Premio del Libro Fotográfico de la Primavera Fotográfica de Barcelona el año siguiente, y "Aqua sana" (2001), y es coautor de "Prestige, 42º15'N-12º08'W" (2005).
